Well its not the free download that's innovative, it's the fact that we're directly targeting a community that discusses music every day and includes many of the area's tastemakers.

These are the people who'll get excited about new music and spread the word.

There's generally no point in an unsigned band giving away their music for free - no one would care. But if you can release it through a respected forum it attains a significance that it would otherwise lack.

It should also raise local awareness of the band to the point where local gigs get packed out- the band then become synonymous with the best of the local scene. This gives a good base for national exposure.

That's the theory anyway...
