I write the songs JL, then sing the parts to an arranger who writes them down, then into studio where I hone down the parts with the musicians.
But the latest stuff used previous arrangements to new lyrics and, sometimes, melodies written to the existing pre recorded arrangements (often for songs which never came out or saw the light of day, so I adapted them).
That's why some new tracks feature 60 piece orchestras of real musos which nobody could afford these days!
When the parameters change, you adapt too!
So, for example, The True Story Of Harold Shipman is a fresh lyric to a song of mine originally called and recorded as Black Girl Buttons which was only an album track.
Your latest compositional triumph would work magnificently as a dramatic form. 'When Caravaggio met Michelangelo' could be a theatrical extravaganza, more elaborate than Dave Clark
[b]So very sadly true J.K. I find it sad that new formats and ideas are left by the wayside, whilst the constant deluge of televised drivel is screened day after day, week after week and year after bloody year.
Still, perhaps in theatre or fringe, the sheer quality of your work would remove the tabloid-driven maltreatment of one of our nation
