Back to nostalgia - Dale played 1967 today and... 17 Years, 1 Month ago
Some superb tracks including two top ten songs written by Neil Diamond when he specialised in catchy pop tunes (often with the same chord sequence).
The Monkees A Little Bit Me and Lulu The Boat That I Row.
Indeed I'd covered another of his songs myself and it became a big hit in Benelux - Cherry Cherry.
Whatever happened to great writers who tailor composed giant global hits for specific stars?
Neil was a member of the terrific Brill Building team of composers.

I'm a big fan of Neil Diamond songs. I think he wrote several for The Monkees.
Speaking of songwriting teams. Nicky Chin and Mike Chapman wrote some of the best pop songs of the 1970s, in my opinion, and I agree that we need writers of similar quality today.

Excellent show this week and I particularly enjoyed the 1974 section since it featured quite a lot of records which don't normally get revived on oldies radio. Things like "Rock And Roll Winter" and "The Cat Crept In" (which the young Adam Ant must have heard) still sound fabulous!
