That's not my name - it's TWINKLE! 17 Years, 1 Month ago
Anyone else remember my old friend Lynn Ripley from the 60s?

The lead singer of the Ting Tings looks exactly like Twinkle.
Terry?

Please let me know you remember or am I SOOOOO old?

I remember Twinkle and Terry.

Actually, I only remember it as an oldie because I was 3 when it was a hit. I have it on a compilation LP and still play it occasionally. Very cool song.

Now I remember this record well, but probably not from the correct era.
My Uncle had a huge box of records which he would loan me for the summer holidays.(`71 or `72)
In this box I discovered the Move, Traffic, even a song about everyone going to the moon.
In amongst them all was Twinkle on Decca I believe.
"What`s this one like?", I asked him.
"Oh don`t put that thing on !" he said, but put it on I did.

Of course I dont admit being so old, but if I had been I may have seen Twinkle at the Matrix in Coventry ( where I may have worked )probably sometime in 1964(?)
I would also have remembered her as being very charming, and perhaps doing a shortish set.
The Matrix audience at that time, many being apprentices at Triumph motorcycles and the ilk, were very much into any song that included death and/or speed. Which they themselves did a lot of.
It was probably for this reason that Reg Calvert booked her as he always had a good understanding of the audience.
I spotted a Youtube of "Terry" a little while ago.may still be there.

Wasn't this record banned by the Beeb for being a so-called "death disc"?

Oh there was quite a rage for Death Ditties, and very little of anything on the BBC at all.
From "Johnny Remember Me" through to "Leader of the Pack"
Oh those heady days!...Buy Thursday , Learn Friday, Play Saturday...and then someone invented Disk Jockeys, and then scooters with little foreign engines.

If I mentioned any artiste who has obscurely nicked "Johnny Remember Me" lately it would look like a plug so I won`t!

don't "remember her" as such but I did see her comeback gig at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford about 12 years ago. She looked and sounded the same, though perhaps a little larger. She was very posh too !
