FAB Chart - surprise Number One! 16 Years, 11 Months ago
It's certainly topical, and it's not a bad track. Zuluman comes straight in at the top of the chart this week with Free Zimbabwe. A good piece of African Reggae.

Another surprise is that Napoleon XIV is at 14 with 'They're coming to take me away Ha Haa'. Does anyone know who that guy really was?

The Alchonauts have a fun song at 16, as does Ron Gletherow at 18, although Ron's song has serious undertones.

Highest climber is Neil Diamond, and Rob Harding takes the Number 2 spot ahead of Kelly Marie who I was sure would have topped the chart this week.

I love the unpredictability.

Napoleon XIV is Jerry Samuels... which I'm sure has really helped a lot

(That was his one and only hit)

Rob can take some solace by being kept off the No1 spot by a "worthy" song.

I adore Robs song.
This is the third recording of it and I wanted to update it to the point of being daring.
The original sounded rather like the Pogues with Kirsty.
The new intro, was rather scary and if I ever find the writer of it...................

I like this chart. I think it reminds me of how the "real" charts used to be. The Zimbabwe song deserves national promotion, but I had to visit the Fab Chart to hear it.

As a random, rather freakish aside, considering how this chart comes up with various oddities. I was thinking earlier that one of my regrets regarding the novelty music scene was that Margaret Rutherford and James Stewart never did a version of "I Got You Babe". Maybe some computer software could simulate such a delight.

Ahem ..

Just had to say I really like Rob's song and he would be a worthy holder of the No. 1 spot. Love the arrangement and for some reason, it's one of those songs that stays with you! Strange but true. The old fashioned music hall with the haunting and stunning female vocal really works well.

"Lovin Kisses" is a good example of how you can add and add to things, when all the time you should be chipping away at it.
If a recording of every single instrument that has been played on that track over the passing months was aired, the noise would be deafening.

A downright very unusual record is what it became.
