Having seen Elton John recently performing in Darlington I was struck by how much he's getting to resemble Mr Stay Puff the marshmallow man, and how much his voice has deteriorated. I have a lovely Elton memory from a couple of years back.
I went bird watching one evening, completely forgetting that the man himself was playing the local football ground and heard the whole concert whilst sitting on a hill a good 3 square miles from the gig.
Quite spooky really, hearing "Benny And The Jets" in the middle of nowhere!
There was not even a faint rumble, you could hear every word.
