TOPIC: What can't speak...

Big End

What can't speak... 17 Years ago
can't lie. Well, I watched and participated in the thread below, good and bad, and now I feel it is time to reveal some facts.

One of the principle objections appears to be that the vox are flat. Dead wrong. I have just double checked every single line with Antares 5 (latest version) via both plug in and audio suite. There are two quaver notes, which are 5% sharp in the whole section that features on the video. I'm sorry, but I would defy a classically trained piano tuner to spot that. To state that the whole thing is flat is utter manifest rubbish.

Yes, I am responsible for the whole thing. Yes, I can take constructive critisism and yes, I would expect any act in my stable to take knocks. We all know that is the nature of being in the entertainment industry. But I will not put up with people writing complete bollocks!

And that is why the music industry is imploding...too many people full of their own self importance not knowing their arse from their elbow. The one reason I stuck with the Tipsheet is that I firmly believed in the community of people and their objectivety. To those who genuinly tried to offer constuctive ways forward, as I have done for others, I thank you.

To the rest, "fuck you"! Have a nice life and goodbye.

Oh, come on. It looks like a charming project that I would be happy to be involved in. Your only fault is that you probably showed it too soon. It could do with a few more months in the bottle, that's all. The neggy criticism was mostly OTT.

flat, sharp, weak, who cares, the problem is, it just is not pleasing. it is dull, derivitive, bland.

And shame on you for starting your own shit-storm then over-reacting to the response.

Sorry you seem to have taken this so personally Big End.

From your post below, it appears that you might be connected with the act. If this is the case, why not delcare your interest earlier in the thread? If you're not involved then I apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick.

I like to think that I've been constructive in my criticism. I simply stated my opinion that I thought it was average. I also said that the vocal was flat. OK, it may not be but whatever you say about checking it in Autotune, it just sounds 'wrong' in places).

Also, some of the lyrics sound like they are too much of a mouthful, and the vocal performance could use a little injection of groove.

I did say that the vocal was the area to focus on, as the arrangment seemed ok.

So, my advice to this artist is to invest in a little bit of vocal coaching.
