I just felt it was a wonderful summer song.
We sold tons when it was released and it leapt into the thirty.
Then suddenly (typical) the weather changed, the sun disappeared, rain poured down, sales went from thousands a day to a mere trickle, the chart stalled and, instead of the dead cert No1 it had looked like becoming, it faltered, stuck and dropped, as the clouds remained.
Bloody British weather.
Hoagy was, in my opinion, one of the greatest ever songwriters. And check him out playing the piano in To Have And Have Not, one of my favourite films, better than Casablanca because you can watch the totally gorgeous young Lauren Bacall (perfect woman?) fall in love with Bogey (in real life).

Blimey it seems to be national ukelele week!
Now,older readers will know that this is the first record I ever attempted to buy but ended up with a Ray Stevens record instead as it was not in stock.
I was blown away with the thing when it came out and obsessed with "Radio 1 lunchtime club".
I also spent 50p on Dawns` "Knock three Times" when it was low down in the chart, which probably was a good test of my early ears as it went to number one.
What readers need to understand, is that back in 1971, records cost a vast amount of money to record by comparison in which they do , on certain tracks today.
The Musicians Union, was paramount in their fees, whilst these days they are sadly just an insurance company really, although still essential in their new role.
I never hear, on a session anymore, the dreaded words "is this for cash or points or Union rates?" from a hired hand. This is kind of a shame for live musicians on a track as is illustrated here on "Lazybones".
So much of live performance these days is duplicating work done by computers that the musicians have to replicate later to show Joe Public.
I call for more live performances from proper players to back singers again.
