Working in this industry over the years (yes many I know) I have been accused of becoming somewhat jaded. However I have heard the sweetest two words today and they are"The Musgraves." Simply put they are quite brilliantly dazzling but not so much that sunglasses are needed. No, their dazzle is exceptionally a rare vintage and I for one think the sample of hits they harbor in their stable is very very very promising indeed. You heard it here first!
They don't quite click for me. Lead singer is a cross between Michael Stipe and Fergal Sharkey, but isn't a match for either. So Sofia seems to be trying to be Simon and Garfunel's Cecelia. They have more life than quite a lot of modern bands, but they came across a confused tribute band.
Good songwriting! Quite like the vocal too. I agree JK 'So Sofia' is the standout but the other tracks are pretty good too especially 'Back To Me'. This is very 'now' and could do well?
I have heard about this band from a few different people..anyone know the score?
checked out the myspace think they have hits.. I guess his voice is a love or hate situation..but doesn't annoy me..?
will keep a watch on this one..!
Their sound is ok but I don't think they have "IT" - or the X Factor - or whatever is needed for major success. Like Denise, I also thought 'So Sofia' was a bit too much like 'Cecelia' but not half as good.
They have the makings of something and should keep working on their own sound.
Saw them at The Troubadour last night. Great live band, they really pulled it off. The place was packed, lots of industry faces and overall a very receptive audience! Catch them if you can, well worth it...
