What is the relation between ROTD and Bo Pepper? They're always plugging the very average Bo Pepper and I recently tried to post a comment on their latest single, chosen as Record Of The day, on there. All I did was point out that there was no chorus and that it sounded desperate. This was not posted. I tried a second time to no avail. This reeks of favouritism and I wouldn't mind but they're so bloody average. I think we should be told.

do you mean the bo pepper that were played on Soccer AM yesterday...and are at In The City at Manchester this weekend as one of the buzz bands as chosen by an independent a&r panel with several gigs and live radio sessions on their itinery?
They are great live SA, get over yourself. Maybe you should try and be more constructive and then you will like yourself a little bit more. Negativity is such a turn-off. As far as I know no-one at ROTD has slept with any member of the band...they just like them!

I think that they are fantastic and blend elements of punk, Scissor Sister, Step and pure fun pop into their works.

I'm not personally a fan of girly vocal bands but they sound OK to me.

On the broader point, both ROTD and Hit Sheet were started by ex Tip Sheet employees when we had to fold so I'm broadly in support of both and - I have to say - am amazed and impressed by the fact that they have survived economically (I basically subsidised The Tip Sheet).

However, neither claims to be original or to criticise bad industry policies or executives - which we did regularly, alongside praising good work and innovation.

On The Tip Sheet we made a point of always stating if we had involvement in projects (Tubthumping and Who Let The Dogs Out, for example, and Eurovision). But it's not for us to lay down editorial or moral guidelines for others. Simply for ourselves.

Another example is that we encourage positivity here and are quite happy for tipsters to mention their own work. Why not?

I do know that there is censorship on ROTD - I can't post in my own name (for example on a recent Eurovision thread) in case it offends Alan McGee.

Fair enough - if people are worried about offending McGee, there's a lot of care needs to be taken (as he does little else but get professionally offended and never has done much else since stumbling across Oasis).

I think pointing out the lack of a chorus is constructive. All I hear on that track is a verse and bridge leading one to expect the "killer" chorus...but it never comes. You must be one of the band as you seem very keen to assasinate my character! I happen to like myself and don't quite understand how you perceive my comment to show some bearing on my presumed lack of esteem - could you please explain why? If an artist is not prepared for negative comment, they may as well give it up.

There is definitely some vested interest at work at ROTD...censorship on any level is abhorrent.

You would just have to ask them about the "vested interests" SA, I don`t personally think that is happening.
I know the guys there quite well and they just like some different things, but are probably editorially different to this board. That`s fine with me, nobody wants identikit music boards, Tipsheet is notably more eccentric than most music boards, currently, and suits the founder`s works really.

I post tips on both boards, but it is rare that I find a piece of music which I feel is suitable for both boards as a tip currently.
Had I discovered a "James Blunt" for example, which I did not, that is the sort of the thing that I would have put across both boards.
