The advert was originally booked and paid for in the Mail but, two days before publication, we were told that "senior management felt it was inappropriate for the Mail".

On being asked if they would refuse an advert for a Roman Polanski film they replied "of course not".

When asked why, they replied, off the record "typical Mail: Girls good, Boys bad".

At least the Guardian seems not to use moral censorship in its advertising policy (though Comment Is Free dumped my replies on the Charlie Brooker column featuring my Harold Shipman song).
