TOPIC: Tom Jones - uuurgh!
#36655
Tom Jones - uuurgh! 16 Years, 7 Months ago
I was never a fan but this awful new reincarnation is frightening.

He looks like a boiled egg in a black wig, his new music is dreadful, the single has a cliche in every line, both lyrically and musically.

I think he's dead but has been kept artificially alive.

Its the wife i feel sorry for. They met when they were 16. That means by my calculation that he's 116 years old.

Hmmm... not a singer I have ever rated and one who seems to have jumped on many bandwagons, ever intent on trying to be some kind of "hip" Grandad. Problem was, it was embarrassing 20 years ago with that ghastly Prince cover and the least said about "Sex Bomb" the better. Not to mention the seemingly endless parade of collaborations... that cover of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Cerys Matthews was especially ghastly.

I've not heard this new material, nor do I want to since it will be the usual irrelevant pap. No doubt he'll be doing the rounds of TV shows to promote it, all the more reason to remember where the OFF switch is!

"Sex Bomb" always raises a smile when it comes on the wireless.

I hate that one Angel and it raises a case against , what I have to say is one of the best and most distinctive singers ever....

On approaching middle age, does a stand alone singer have to take the mickey of thereselves to make a career for life in public?

On the contrary Mart. I like the tune and have respect for TJ. Its a foot tapping, uplifting track that one cannot refrain from singing along to. It never seems to sound any older than the day it was released. Only Tom could sing that track with any conviction. Its not a novelty track in any way to me.
