Lesley Douglas falls on her sword 16 Years, 7 Months ago
Jonathan Ross must be feeling very very small tonight as the woman who gave him the chance to build his exorbitant salary via his Radio 2 show resigns.
Spoken to several R2 execs and they all in shock -hardly surprising.
Mind you Ross could be gone himself.....

Now this really is getting out of hand. Why has this story grown and grown like this?
Mr Sachs has stated that he is not that bothered himself, I don`t think this is a simple matter of blaming the Mail as many are for blowing this up, if we peel under the unseen onion like layers, I think we would find a set up waiting to befall certain people.

JK I understand your position on Associated Newspapers, but 30,000 people felt the need sit at their keyboards and vent their feelings. They weren't urged by the papers you mention, they did because they they wanted to have their say and speak out strongly on the topic.
You cannot argue against that weight of public opinion.
Radio 2 listeners are conservative with a small c and such unpleasntness clogging the airways offends them.

Couldn't agree more Mart - if this was a parody it would considered a very stupid parody

But Walter, only 2 Radio Two listeners complained after broadcast.
We must consider acts in the correct context. Late night bad taste gags to a select audience are acceptable if tasteless. Publishing them to millions is not.
Take something out of context and publish it elsewhere and it may well offend.
If 30,000 listeners had complained after broadcast I would concur.
Since they only complained when it was published by the tabloids, I believe the fault was the tabloids in publishing offensive material and upsetting their readers.
