I can't vote for any of these.

Why? I haven't even heard half of these records thanks to the fact that there are no shows on terrestrial TV - like TOTP - to see and hear these acts. As for the ones I have heard, my opinions are best left to myself!

No Dizzee Rascal/Calvin Harris? A very strong four week number 1. Also Girls Aloud is the fastest-selling non-charity single this year and I feel are particularly unlunky to miss out.

Would include both those over the 2-3 year old Rockstar which started to chart well last year and the execrable Hero cover.

Agree with you IMP and well spotted; Dizzee was very, very nearly in there but Girls Aloud is still well outside the 20.

Elliott; try wonderful You Tube; you might be pleasantly surprised (by Take A Bow for example).

Personal taste must not influence the list and much though I hate Hero, it will probably be the biggest seller of the year (currently No2).

I'm furious with Nickleback for stealing my song title (LOL) but it is in the top 3 sellers of the year.

Not overly impressed with the list.

I'd say Good Morning by Sparks was a better record of the year, even though it wasn't a hit.
I'm sure I could think of more once I get my brain engaged.

I honestly didn't realise Rockstar had sold so well. A case of the tortoise beating the hare.

On Dizzee, thought it was a cracking little song for a filler between albums (as a side note why don't more artists do this?), and sold particularly well for a July hit when sales traditionally plummet.

I would probably go for either Duffy, Nickelback or Kings of Leon. Quite like Katy Perry's song as well.

Why the bloody hell is this not screened on ITV? It drew huge ratings and provided entertainment and improved sales in music.

Can I ask what the reason is JK? ITV have hardly come up with an alternative have they?

I sent the list to Michael Grade and his heads of department; I think this lineup would get terrific ratings on a Saturday night and would do so much for the music industry before Christmas, as it always did in past years, but there is no fathoming the mind of Britannia High Tee Vee.

Got to be Coldplay's 'Viva la Vida'. For the first time in years I found myself actively scanning the airwaves to hear a certain song, and actually going into a record shop for the album. Just like old times...
