Sounds like it could have been either Marc Moulin or Michel Moers of Telex, or someone trying hard to sound like them.
She had quite a sad life, the singing nun. This version was released as an attempt to make some money to pay back the income tax people. She had given all her previous royalties to her convent, but couldn't prove it.
She was an outspoken radical though a devout Christian, who eventually committed suicide with her female "companion" of ten years.
She's known as Soeur Sourire in French, Sister Smile. Bitter irony in retrospect.
The original is a glorious, pure, innocent delivery of a simple song and another example of the debate we've been having on another thread about interpretation.
Many great interpretations are one offs, as in her early 60s hit.
