Way back in the 50s and 60s they had a generic brand of RECORD LABEL called Embassy where session singers (including, if I remember, Elton John when he was Reg Dwight) covered current hits almost identically and sold the vinyl copies for much less than the real thing.
What a wonderful old fashioned idea...
Some of the covers were quite awful.
But - if I was still on radio - I'd be digging out and playing some of them today.
