Copyright extention for music afterall 16 Years, 6 Months ago  
"Culture minister Andy Burnham yesterday made the... announcement... the government would now push for a 20-year extension on copyright."

After they decided it was a bad thing to do it's become policy to do it.

The copyright extension advocates do seem to using the idea of the "poor struggling songwriter" to justify their ends but who will really benefit - only the already well-off top selling artistes and the major labels.

Burnham: "moral case for performers"

Gowers: "As political speeches go, this is pretty silly. A moral case? You might just as well say sportspeople have a moral case to a pension at 30.

Copyright is an economic instrument, not a moral one, and if you consider the economic arguments
