They're all obvious and have featured on the various Acts For 2009 list. You could be a bit more original and unpredictable. Not exactly sticking your neck out, are you?
In the office, not much going on so thought I'd share my list! I see a lot of bands, have seen most of these and many many others who may not make it. Whether they've been on other lists or not, they are my top tips and yes many are by now very obvious. I'd love to be able to stick my neck out but there are some acts that I don't won't publicise yet! ;0)
SKUNK ANANSIE : announced re-union. Lets hope they do a new album and rock it. Rock music needs a band like this.
MARS PATROL : Scottish Band who write amazing tunes and building an awesome UK fanbase.
MINUS IQ : Electronic Pop / Rock with shades of Duran. Building the same sort of vibe as Enter Shikari did. Selling out all round the UK with young audiences. Off the radar intentionally because big names behind them - so dont expect them in the press !
THE WHYBIRDS : The UK's best rock band. Massive USA interest in this band with HUGE ( and I mean HUGE ) producers. One of my fave two bands and the other is
MESH 29 : Second Album is doing really well and second single is out on March 2nd. Brilliant band and album and their Living Room Tour of the UK was meant to be an amazing success.
All these bands are bands based on AMAZING SONGWRITING. They are all musically superb and I would say see them all now whilst you still can before they get bigger. Also check out their releases.
Ok, IŽll bite. I met this girl 2 years ago - great songwriting, amazing vocals, breathtaking live performer. Would sign her if she didnŽt have her album debut at another label in the meantime..
I can't see Emma Deigman being signed in a million years. OK singer, pretty girl but the songs are meh and the production...well, it sounds like what Mr. Kennedy did for S Club. Dated, but not in the en vogue way...
I prefer the Deigman production to the one of Red Blooded Women, commercial dance stuff and the vocals are fine but too glossy computerized know what I mean. not enough soul. There you go, each to his own
