Too right.

A nice enough little ballad, which may have done well 15 years ago, but not now.

Despite my rather rude comments in another thread about The Twins, their quirkier performance of it complete with their natural harmonies would probably give the song its best chance of a respectable score.

I expect Jade will win though, as predicted by just about everybody.

Totally with you Anthony - The Twins were far and away the best treatment of a very inferior song (with some dreadful lyrics).

"I'll show you what I'm made of"???

And big mistake having Dima Bilan on the show and putting our karaoke contestants to shame; how dare anyone still blame the Russian win last year on block voting when Dima is such a class act?

I actually thought Jade was the worst of the three finalists with the song!

Yes, JK, I was about to post a very similar comment. But no doubt all the same excuses will come out this time when the song inevitably fails.

By voting for Jade, we have a predictable performance of a predictable ballad with a predictable result.

How sad, predictable and downright pathetic. We aint gonna win Eurovision with that pile of antiquated rubbish. Anthony is right... maybe 15 years ago it would had stood a chance but not now.

This might actually turn out to be the biggest mistake in Lloyd Webber's illustrious career.

To be honest I watched the Eurovision mostly for Wogan's commentary. I haven't followed this years UK entry at all, so no idea yet whether it's a good song or not. I'd like to see us do well, but haven't held out any hope for several years. I understand there is a new way of voting, so maybe that will be interesting.

I'll maybe find our entry on Youtube.

Georgia won the Junior Eurovision. Very unusual song based on bees buzzing. I think we need more unusual and inspiring songs for the main Eurvision also. It all got a bit stale in recent years.

oh come on JK the only countries to give Russia 12 last year were Estonia Latvia Lithuania Belarus Ukraine Armenia Israel and Serbia.Get yourself an atlas and look at the Russian population of Israel and the links between Russia and Serbia. Stevie Wonder can clearly see that was block voting and the fact Dima only came 3rd in the semi final when Ukraine Lithuania Latvia and Belarus were unable to vote proves beyond any doubt that he won through block voting. Not a single western European country placed him in the top 3.

However even he makes this year's UK entry look crap.

Fourteen different countries have won ESC in the last fourteen years. I cannot think of any other competition with such a diversity of winners. If the song is deserving, it will win. No need for any excuses.

Hmm - interesting - just had a long e-m from Peter Whitehead, an old friend with a good pair of ears, raving about it and BR has been hooked - perhaps we're wrong about the song. I do hope so.

I can where BR is coming from, but this to me brings over a few points.

The key change, is currently rather generic of light entertainment pop lately and is more expected than uplifting. Generations will grow up believing that every time this happens in music, fireworks explode and ticker tape cascades from the ceiling. That is not a bad thing in itself, as it "illustrates" a sound.

Going back to the weeks earlier thread,. I do think this song would be better at the same tempo, but with a dance beat in the Moroder "Euro Dance" style discussed below.

Lastly, am I the only one to get the feeling that Sir Andrew, does not like the song much? He does not seem to exude belief or pride from it.

There you go.

I'm with you TP - I felt the key change and the big entry (ooh matron) were so predictable and dull but, again, they may work.

He didn't go for the big finish which, likewise, may be a serious mistake; live performances should end on the highest and most dramatic point to provoke crowd response, predictable and crap though that may be.

Jade's reprise plus tears must be a great TV moment though with every single note missed, illustrating how ghastly amateurs are - professionals sing perfectly through (fake) tears.

I only saw part. My gut reaction is that The twins have a brilliant gimmick appeal, and sing OK. Jade is the better singer IMHO, but I'm not sure the song would stand out against the competition with her one board.

Also have to wonder if this was really the best shot from either ALW or Warren.

Re:It's My Time - the UK Eurovision entry. 16 Years, 4 Months ago
none of the 3 performers are good enough to win the esc

to win you have to have that unique something or be a great performer and have a suitable song for the contest

mark has a genuinely good voice but is only an ok performer

jade is a good looking girl with an ok voice who wants to be another mariah carey - but it is only a pale imitation

the twins are unique ish but judged on earlier performances they could they easily bomb out on stage and be another jemini

jade will do very to finish in the top half of the esc and will more likely continue our recent run of poor results - prediction bottom 6 finish

Two thousand views to this thread in 24 hours and 2000 more to the Your Views thread - just shows people know where to come to read about Eurovision.

That's because to most fans you ARE eurovision JK. Well those not told enough to remember pre 1995.

I've played this song to loads of people and they all have the same opinion in that it's a typical ALW show song, nothing special but why does she shout instead of sing ?

We're not wrong JK. This, if representing Netherlands, wouldn't reach the final and UK should be grateful they don't have to get through the semis.

Only word to describe this track is dreary. Not very uplifting is it? I thought to win you'd need a track that got evrybody smiling. This is standard ALW musical fodder. Dreary me:pinch:

sad, predictable, pathetic and antiquated all in all an accurate description of lloyd webber or is that too harsh
either way the uk will fail yet again in the esc and out will come the usual excuses of block voting instead of recognising that our recent and current entries are simply not good enough
