Petty last year was a treat, but this was an absolute genuine joy. Bruce live is an event in any case, Born To Run one of the few classics that is just not done justice by the studio version and has to be heard live for maximum impact. To see him play on a stage that is already part of a massive event makes it even more special.
If I'd had some space on a blank DVD I would have recorded the Springstein performance. I have absolutely no interest in the rest of the Superbowl. Maybe Bruce's bit will emerge on Youtube.
Best ever live band I have seen have to be SLADE. I have seen almost everyone as well in the last 30 years.....but not Bruce - and I must admit he possibly is the best. Where have people seen him live ? in the UK or USA ?
Best Brooooce gig for me was Meadowlands New Jersey (his local stadium) with the late great Roger Scott - we had such a terrific time. It was fun meeting Shadow Home Secretary Tony Blair at Broooce's Wembley gig years ago.
Blair should have been recruited by the music industry to be an ambassador. He seems to love rock music and I am sure would enjoy being involved. An opportunity missed by the majors.
