I've been in the music industry for years and have the good fortune to remain in it.
Years ago when the tipsheet started it really galvanised the business.
I've never known anything else actually frighten the bosses. It kept them (slightly) honest.
We loved it.
Even today, with the industry decimated, only this board covers everything - from James Bourne to Eurovision looking at the past few threads.
My friends in America talk about it all the time.
Other boards and publications are bland or low grade or bitchy.
Thank you tippy.
Thank you. The Tipsheet was indeed an unusual ingredient in the 90s and I like to think it did improve the industry but I must tell you that it was totally based on The Gavin Report, started in the 60s by my dear friend Bill Gavin. He and his wife Janet remained friends long after they sold up, retired and went around the world (always visiting me when they hit London).
The USA needs another Gavin Report (it was based in San Francisco) and the UK needs another Tipsheet but I haven't yet worked out what shape it should be or what form it would take.
