I have to second what JK says here. It is a dreadful state of affairs that so much talent has been sucked into believing that such shows offer a "fast track" to fame and fortune. Ok, so the odd one does something, but the majority end up being has been game show monkeys.
In fact, it is probably more fun and profitable to be on "Who wants to be a Millionaire".

or in other terms Big End.....I have just purchased a lottery ticket, is this a potential big deal in the pipeline?
I have said this before, but I do not mind re-writing it, as we get so many new people reading our rants.
I was allways so much looking forward to a time in which my generation ran the business, and all I can do some times is shake my head and look to the floor. Whilst I agree it is a competitive business, and I do like the act featured above, I hate nationally rated talent shows, and I fear the class of `78 were responsible.
Never mind eh?

Oh dear. Although it's kind of inevitable the Fame Academy thing will always be dragged up, I naively hoped the views would be on the music on Ainslie's MySpace. He's in a different place now, and it would be nice if he could be judged on that instead. The tracks 'Daytrip' and 'While They Wait' are the best representation of where he's at (the other track being from 3 years ago), and what the record he's self-releasing in a few weeks is about.

hey, if someone gets to a "different place" then great. I hope I didn't give the wrong impression...it was the shows themselves that I was having a go at.

Not at all, Big End, you made very valid points (I have a beef with those kind of shows too!). I was referring more to the posts which seemed to judge him for having been on the show instead of his current output.

..many times I read things that were probably , a bit "cheeky nudge nudge"..and they often can be read as negative, or indeed positive.
These days on tipsheet, people either like it or not, I don`t think there is much genuine hostility.
I worked with an X factor lady last year, and she has used it as a great stepping stone to a live gigging career.
