Interesting E-Mail... 16 Years, 3 Months ago
I get more and more supportive e-mails these days and here's an excerpt from one (edited)...

BTW - I did a year on Drive at BBC Radio XXX in 2007 and noticed that there was, and still is, I think, an edict on BBC local and national radio about playing your records...i.e. you shouldn't/musn't.. so that would put you in the same bracket as Gary Glitter (!).

Interesting that there is no such restriction on playing Rolling Stones' records, Bill Wyman went out with Mandy Smith when she was 13 and he was 48.

Funny old world isn't it?

If anyone has a copy of this instruction I'd be interested to see it - unattributable of course.

I was listening to Dale Winton's Pick of The Pops show on Sunday. The year was 1973, and when he got to the No.3 record he skipped over it, with just a very quick mention that it was a title by Gary Glitter. (But no chance of playing it!!)

they don't play Glitter songs as any money he gets from PRS could be used to exploit children... Strangely they still play "Doctoring the Tardis" which enables him to buy lots of sweeties.
