Can a band with a large myspace following but no label, still get a booking agent??

Have you released anything? Do you have a fanbase that ensures a decent attendance to gigs? If not, my answer would be no. MySpace numbers mean nothing.

Yes - but why bother ? If you have a big following then why share your fees with a booking agent. Promoters of most venues deal directly with bands up to the 2000-3000 size.

The only place agents come into their own is with big festivals - but even then you can buy your way onto events like GUILFEST ( 50 day tickets £2000 ) which is no problem for a well supported band.

If you have a label who employ an agent then it makes sense.

Otherwise agents are just freeloading off your work and fanbase.

Be independent - most of the best bands want to stay clear of agents.
