Is anyone else "getting" this band? They're being tipped like crazy but I'm really not moved. They seem to be a classic example of that too-cool-for-school NME fodder. What does everyone else think?
Well I don't think the NME is cool at all and I'm definitely too old but please explain why "awesome noisy garage rock" sounds exactly like irritating girl punk bands from 30 years ago?
I was referring to Red's NME comment not you JK. You're the King of Hits !
If you are insinuating byop are highly unoriginal I wouldn't argue with you but they are lot more exciting than the dreary floppy fringed "indie" rubbish pushed through the NME and MTV2 who allude to punk/DIY roots for Kudos.
I never said NME was cool! I personally think NME is a sucky hype machine and a career killer for most bands associated with it. Plus, when will they stop banging on about that utterly talentless media whore Doherty? Utter tripe. The listed him as (if memory serves) one of the top ten all-time "rock heroes" in a recent poll. Stomach-turning stuff.
The NME is NASTY NASTY NASTY. All the bands they feature that purport to be "indie" are merely chavs in disguise that sound a bit like the libertines. All you have to do is grow your hair a bit, drain every piece of charisma out of you body, wear a skinny tie and you're in. How happy I was when I heard that guy from the kaiser chiefs got hit by a car. How unhappy I was when I heard that he survived.
And I HATE the attitude of the NME. The writers, like practically all of the music/youth TV presenters, seem to confuse being dumb and obnoxious with being sassy and cool. This whole ironic presenting/writing style isn't funny anymore and never really was.
A-freakin'-men, Ufo. NME is surely the terminal zone for any act to be hyped from, and I hear you about the chav nonsense indie-crack brigade being NME fuelled. Not good.
