In a complete non story better suited to the anti BBC tabloids, Mickie Most's former house in Cannes is described as a "Rockstar Villa" hired - at great expense - by the Beeb to boost sales.
Excuse me? Nobody bows down to Mickie as a producer more than I - we vied for Producer of the Year Awards in the early 70s - but Rock Star?
He was once half of a failed pop due called The Most Brothers (anyone know what happened to Alex Murray, his "brother"?).
But Rock Star? Please, Guardian, don't join the inaccurates and illiterates.

Mickie Most and The Playboys. 11 consecutive number ones in South Africa in the early sixties. Most of them were cover versions of Rock and Roll songs like the one on this link. The Guardians defenition of him as a "Rock Star" is a bit loose.

I saw that piece, and on a side issue they are scraping the barrel. The BBC has generated £80 million in production funds. What's the price of a villa compared to that? The Beeb is a major int'l producer. Villas and yachts are tools of the trade in Cannes at a certain level. The Beeb is at that level.
