TOPIC: My Eurovision failure
#48408
My Eurovision failure 15 Years, 10 Months ago
The one time I actually tried to put an entry together (as opposed to finding an entry as I did with Katrina, Gina G and others) we were beaten by the awful Nicki French track but I really think SIX CHIX would have won.

What do you think?

In all honesty, JK, I don't believe Six Chix would have won the 2000 Eurovision, but it would certainly have been the best contender out of the UK songs that year. Best case scenario 4th or 5th possibly.

I don't begrudge Nicki her Eurovision experience in any case. I have met her on a few occasions, and even inflicted the worst hangover of my life on myself drinking organic wine in her house a few years ago. She is a genuine supporter of the contest and often turns up at fan club conventions and the like. Nice lady.

I agree she's a sweet lady and a terrific Eurovision champion but it was a dreadful entry.

I still think Six Chix could have won. But what's done is done!

Surely it's better than Jade?

Yes, definitely better than Jade, but in 2000 there were two great songs from Russia and Latvia finishing second and third, and the public's imagination was captured by the Olsen brothers' harmonizing. I can't see Six Chix beating any of those. Jade only came tenth with the public vote and was rescued into fifth by those generous "expert" juries.

We'll never know whether you or I are right here, and you'd already got your big win in 1997 anyway, JK. Can't see the BBC wanting to fork out for another contest so soon afterwards!

Agreed on that one. She played Portsmouth Pride a few years back and as it was raining the main stage was washed out. She made her way to the bar tent having left her music in the car. There was a karaoke on in the bar tent and within minutes was flicking through the book looking for "Total Eclipse". Rozalla ,who was also there did the same thing and followed her at the on the karaoke. She did "Everybodys Free" and i swear the power of that voice nearly took the roof of the tent. Both singers came back to The "Old Vic" pub afterwards and stayed for the whole evening. Dont remember much else from that evening though. Must have been too much blood in the winestream.
