Wonderful Last Night at the Proms 15 Years, 9 Months ago

Rule Britannia was fantastic - Sarah Connolly was superb - loved the conductor David Robertson - and the final Land of Hope and Glory reminded me and I suspect, everyone that music and the BBC are two of the things that make Britain great.

Indeed, so many more things to love this country for than there are to hate.

I always enjoy Last Night of the Proms but must admit that while Land of Hope and Glory was being sung this time I was in conflict. The lyrics and spirit of the song do not fit with what is happening in the UK today. It was just a glorious echo of the past. Excellent concerts and brilliantly organised.

There is much to love about our country and we must not those who dislike our way of life to ruin it for us.

Gordon Brown and his ilk are so anti things like this - it just shows them up as spoilt people who cant appreciate any form of culture.

The UK and Music of all types go hand in hand.
