TOPIC: Bob Dylan's Christmas Record

Bob Dylan's Christmas Record 15 Years, 8 Months ago
Maybe I'm getting old and senile, but I love "Christmas In The Heart".

The songs are corny as hell, with all the MOR-production tricks (strings, bells, choruses etc.) in the book, but it's great fun to listen to.

Sounds great - I love Christmas and like some of Dylans stuff !!

Liking Christmas should not stereotype a person as either old or senile

I think this Christmas it is a good time for everyone in the UK to reflect on the things that actually matter in life - rather than what the TV adverts tell us we need to "be complete".

Music is certainly something I think we all need because it brightens our lives and brings us together. So lets make this Christmas one with non stop music !

the very idea of Christmas albums, in fact most cheesy American Christmas music, makes me cringe!

I love Christmas and Bob Dylan. The idea of such a non-conformist personality as Bob indulging in all the conformities of Christmas is truly wonderful. I'll probably add it to my collection alongside of the Jethro Tull and Lynyrd Skynyrd Christmas albums.

The Cosmic Hoot Christmas album is out now too. I like to hear different takes on Christmas music and so it's good that so many artists produce such a variety.

Here's a link to the Cosmic Hoot audio clips on Amazon.com. I choose this link because Amazon.co.uk haven't displayed the cover art yet. I think Tunecore are looking into whether it was delivered properly. So far it's only on mp3 but it should be available on CD by November.

I see the cover art is displayed now. Who designed it? It's kinda groovy.

( Link on You Tube from JK ) sounded like something Elvis would have done in the film period - pure genius.

Certainly not what I expected.

Bob Dylan is certainly not predictable.

He became a Christian in the 1970s - and I think he sort of has a duel faith now. There are quite alot of Jews who have embraced Christianity as well as their own faith - the two are certainly possible to follow at the same time.

The three Abrahamic religions are very very close when you start examining them. They have different cultural styles - but the core of them all is virtually identical and they all share things. Christianity shares the Old Testament with Judaism and Islam recognises Jesus and the New Testament teachings of Jesus.

This is why it is so weird that these religions come into dispute so much - when all of them have the central message of LOVE and God's love.

I can only suggest that those who corrupt each religion into a war mongering version ( Blair - Bush - Al Quaida - State of Israel ) are not actually true followers of their faith but people who have lost the essence of their religion and act by human desires of greed and hate rather than the path of LOVE that God wants for EVERYONE. Religion should also not be a prison - too many churches make a legalistic theology rather than just relying on the simple message which God tells everyone via these religions.
