That's in the latest AOL poll. The show has always given me that impression.

I haven't watched this year's X Factor at all but I know some of you do. So, what do you think? Is it fixed?

I think they have borrowed Ricki Lake's audience. They seem to need to scream each time an average vocalist gets one line in tune.

Of course it's fixed. It's just a case of which prettyboy will win in the final at this point of time but they will know by the time it comes around.

The show controls the editing process which can be used to influence the outcome. If they are doing this with the primary purpose of increasing the entertainment value of the show is this really "fixing"?
For Example
Jedward are good for ratings, Is giving them a bigger production budget fixing or is the shows producer doing his job, Getting the best TV outcome from the resources at their disposal?
Equally, The whole Susan Boyle story was bigged up to increase her appeal, was that fixing?
Being totally neutral is impossible as any attempt to make a contestant better, camera angles etc could be considered bias.

Most other forums are saying it is fixed and most are non impressed by those in this series.

I caught it at the weekend - and wish I had not.

It has become another media brainwashing event where week after week singers are made to play with the viewer's emotions.

Leona was obviously a plant.

There has been no other decent singer to come through X Factor despite the hype etc. Most are decent pub singers but would not even cut it in the West End. Some are awful.

It seems even Will Young is kicking the programme now.Check out this link.

I agree with BR that the programme has not produced one lasting star and will never do so. Leona will suffer the same fate if her new album is more of the same breathy ballads and cod R&B jingles. Wonder what song the Grimey twins will put out for the Christmas number one? Has it been revealed yet? Wouldnt it be funny if nobody bought it??

Why does nobody say anything about the fact that the X Factor is supposed to be a way of finding ordinary people with undiscovered raw talent - when in fact what it actually is, is a medium through which to promote experienced singers/actresses like Lucie who already have agents and management?

The public now find out that this 'shy girl who has never left a small village in Wales' is actually a well seasoned performer who had to turn down the lead in a Hollywood film before her involvement in X Factor! How about Leona, who had been at famous stage schools her whole life? Or Ray Quinn, ex Brookside!? Need I go on...

RIDICULOUS! When are the public going to grasp this and lose interest!? The sooner this show is forced to be cancelled the better. The word reality is surely being used in jest. I think it is disgusting that we are obviously thought of as stupid and expected to swallow badly covered up lies.

AND why is the group song always mimed!!!

X Factor is a television show. It's purpose is to find viewers and ratings. To do this you need quality content and a way of engaging the public.
I'm sure Simon would like to find an undiscovered superstar every year and have the group song performed live. He lives in the real world and works with the material he has at his disposal and like him or not I think he does a good job.
I don't particularly like the programme but as long as it gets the ratings and generates the column inches of promotion the producers are succeeding.

I agree Blue Boy - it is actually good, clever and populist TV which is the only point of it.

It is not a music show and really should not be considered one.

Which is why Leona Lewis looks like being beaten to No1 this week.

When oh when are you lot going to realise that the public are voting for 'Jedward' as a joke! They are the ones having a laff at X Factors expense! My kids are, anyway - its all over Facebook - 'vote for the twins - its funny...!' - its just a bit of fun....

if you are looking for talented young artists of any genre, stop looking for them on x factor - even if they are good its a poisoned chalice...most people dont care who wins - its about car crash telly - isnt it?
