Re:No SuBo Brit nomination? Absurd. 15 Years, 5 Months ago
Not The Brits - it should give awards to those who were successful, be it artistically, commercially or preferably both! Personal tastes should not come into it, like the Grammys.

why should tho Brits be different tho, as you seem to single them out....
as I said I don't much like awards so I am not best placed to comment lol but if sales were the barometer then surely the Birdy Song or Shaddap Your Face should have won awards??

And they did David; Una Paloma Blanca was the Record of the Year in 1975! No, I think nominations should reflect popularity - the winners need not, depending on the judges.
But for example I think John Le Carre should be short listed for a Booker every time he has a new book out but he never is. What do I know?

Looks like Gordon Smart on the Sun reads this board (good for him) and writes Bizarre in the time honoured way (I taught them)... knock the nominations every year!

I think more than just who she is went against SuBo getting nominated. Timing being the biggest factor, in my opinion. I am on the voting acadamy, and at the time I voted, though the SuBo album had been released - just - I was not aware how well it was doing comercially.
So, had the album been released a few weeks (or even a week) earlier, I think it may have been noticed more by the acadamy and probably got nominated.
To be honest, only I Dreamed a Dream and Wild Horses stand out for me. So it would have only got my vote to recognise its sales - which hadn't happened at the time I voted.
