Five years ago we were tipped by the members of a young band The Vacancy with several potential hits - the best of which was She Walks Right Through Me.
Sadly they were picked up by Nick "Useless" Raphael who dropped the hits, made them change their name to Go Audio, forced them to alter their sound, built an amazing street team - forgetting that the product needed to be right first - and then dropped them from his Epic stable.
I hear they have now - as was inevitable - split up. Another potential British global smash destroyed by our useless executives.
That's what the entire industry used to say in the good old days, Mike, when the Tipsheet ruled music but then, as now, they all knew it was nothing personal (I like Nick "Dane Bowers will be the biggest star in the world" Raphael) but all about keeping them efficient and honest and able.
Since I stopped commenting, executives have either left the industry or presided over its demise.
Point taken. And there was not so much evidence of street teaming behind the other two acts you mentioned there and if there was, the music was of higher exposure anyway.
