"NOT THE X FACTOR"

Go head to head with X FACTOR on Saturday nights.

Each week 7 songs are performed either live or on video and the public gets to vote one to a final which takes place the same night as X FACTOR.

This would then be the BBC's peoples' choice of a song that goes up against the X FACTOR.

Out of the 7 songs each week :

1. One chosen by a Radio 1 DJ
2. One chosen by a Radio 2 DJ
3. One chosen by a Radio 6 DJ
4. One chosen by a NME or Kerrang! Music Journo
5. One new song chosen by Record of the Day
6. One new song chosen by xxxx
7. One Classic Song chosen by Classic Rock journo.

Voting would be via phone and proceeds would go to Children in Need,

It would mean new songs and old songs performed each week on BBC getting coverage and increasing awareness of REAL ACTS not just karaoke singers.

Obviously NO TV CREATED acts could be part of this - and it would only apply to real songwriting bands and artists.

At the end you would have a ready made challenger for the Christmas Number One.

Someone like JONATHAN ROSS would be ideal to front such a show.

In addition each week a GUEST STAR such as Bowie - or McCARTNEY etc could perform a song as well if it was felt necessary to interview a STAR about the evening's tracks.
