Chart... interesting points... 18 Years, 10 Months ago
The total collapse of tabloid power... the Sun cannot make punters buy crap.
The lack of any huge footie hit despite all the entries; my personal hunch is that Three Lions will revive to become the winning anthem - again.
LORDI - proof that the dinosaur majors are dying... it would have been top five if it had been available the day after Eurovision.
Why not?
Dying dinosaurs lose the ability to move fast.
But music enthusiasm moves faster than ever and once you lose the momentum, all is lost.
LORDI should, this week, have been basking in a smash compilation album off the back of the top five single four weeks ago.
Would Daz have been 8 without Eurovision?
Not in a million years.
But he might have topped the charts the week after A Song For Europe (or whatever the Beeb are currently calling it).
And his album would have gone top ten if released the day after the Eurovision show, however badly he'd done.
DINOSAURS!
I'm thinking of starting TurnOnASixpence Records.,.. 18 Years, 10 Months ago
because that's what a label should be able to do (especially in this download age).
Get it out within seconds.
After all we used to do it with the Tipsheet CD within days. And that was physical and had 20 odd tracks.
One day to manufacture and one to distribute; that's what it should be.
A two day turnaround.
Whereas today it's nearer two months.

Or you could go for the AllMouthAndNoTrousers business model. Just post loads of, "Hey, just heard this, it's great!" kind of messages about your latest track on loads of forums, then reply to it under different names in agreement.

And to think that, in the alleged real dinosaur days, Lennon and Spector could write, arrange, record, produce, press and release "Instant Karma" in the space of seven days!
