Very little Eurovision content this year on the Tipsheet.

anyway, here is my vote from the Nottigham jury, with youtube links.

12 points to Switzerland, a rather glorious Eurodisco number that Kylie might like to cover. I could also close my eyes and hear Claude Francois singing this 30 years ago. Great.

10 points to Belgium

Very refreshing to hear a song like this in Eurovision. Good ol' singer-songwriter stuff (and it does help that he's rather handsome too. superficial, moi?)

9 points to Bulgaria

Feel-good dance track with a very good hook. Could be a surprise winner.

8 points to Portugal

Melodic ballad- nice.

7 points to Georgia

Really strong. I may have ranked this too low. Great melody.

6 points to Finland

I think I might be alone in ranking this highly. I like it for 2 reasons - firstly it's good when countries don't feel they have to enter songs in English even if it means they stand a lesser chance of winning. Secondly, I lived in Finland for a couple of years and this has a genuine folksy-Finnish feel to it.

5 points to Poland

Poland's Gary Barlow?

Theatrical number- I don't normally do theatrical, but this ain't bad.

4 points to Serbia

It's about the Balkans and has a great Balkan feel to it, which should ensure a fair few votes from its Balkan neighbours. The chap does have an odd look tho.

3 points to Romania

Sounds awful at the beginning but great at the end.

2 points to Norway

Dramatic ballad, done well.

and finally

1 point to France

Don't think this will do well, but has a good vibe to it and is different.

The Swiss singer must be related to Mr Rumbold from "Are You Being Served".

I'm afraid that's my fault, David. I am usually Tipsheet's self-proclaimed Eurovision man on the spot but this year my time is consumed by matters I'd rather not have it consumed by. I'm not even ready to post the results of the Derby jury yet. The first semi final is on BBC3 tonight. I will try to find time to post my thoughts on this later.
