My friend and young protege Tommy has turned into a terrific producer and he's only just 21.
It amused me that I told him the story which Clem Cattini and Les Hurdle reminded me of during lunch a couple of months back (see Photos) - that I used to let the drummers set up and then came in removing their cymbals, high hats ("those horrid tin things") in order to force them to rethink their drumming style, using the spare arm for better fills in snares and toms. I'd completely forgotten doing it.
Tommy just played me his latest album production and pointed out he'd done the same (he plays the drums on his sessions) and it worked a treat.
It's nice when my elderly generation (65) can influence - hopefully positively - the new, upcoming music makers.
Impressed that you still bother to improve and influence music and the modern makers thereof.
Judging by VidCon - which I just attended in Los Angeles - your protegees Tom, Charlie, Alex and Edplant are making quite an impact on the You Tube generation. Of no interest at all to anyone over 30 but fascinating to us younger folk.
Even more impressive that they respect and like you enough to ignore the shit.
