Plastic Bertrand RIP off confirmed 14 Years, 11 Months ago
Plastic Bertrand is not the singer on the 1978 punk classic 'Ca Plane Pour Moi'.
Reminds me of JK and the BC Rollers in 1972.In both cases the artist never got paid.

So few singers actually sing! It's all in the presentation, love (or should I say Cherie?).

This has been an open secret since the day it was released. The producer in question is notorious. There are serious questions about the origin of a number of his hits.

I believe his name is something like DePrick. Great name. He deserved success.

DePrijck, which is actually pronounced deprike. But "the prick" fits him to a T by all accounts.

He did however sing live for Luxembourg in the 1987 Eurovision!

And the song was of course a rip off of this. It used the same backing track but the lyric was not a direct translation.

I did publicity for Plastic Bertrand at Sire Records and met Roget...who was a very sweet guy. Never heard him sing though...but let's be honest that wasn't a record that needed a great voice, just a good look and a lot of personality and he certainly had those.
He did release several lp's...and he did perform I believe...so is it possible he just didn't sing the single?
ALSO I thought it was the reverse, that the Elton Motello record was the copy.

Seems it was according to Wiki. My mistake.

You'll forgive me if I don't get too excited about the origins of the lead vocal on a 32 year-old novelty hit from a one-hit wonder...?
