TOPIC: Significant - music industry dies
#61014
Significant - music industry dies 14 Years, 10 Months ago
In the past, even holiday months like August saw thousands of music industry execs active and busier than ever - especially the little and less successful.
Since entering the business was through love and not money, a vacation was never that for music people - we live and breathe it; we don't take time off.
Now however our declining industry sees no posts here since Friday; ditto ROTD and Velvet Rope... the business is staffed by drones.
August weekends? Dead air for music.
A shame.

Yes. Too many PR people dominating things now. Look at RCA!

It's the lack of excitement, JK ... nothing bussing right now.

We should also remember that whereas when we were young - and outlets for our cash were few and far between ! - we were obsessed by music and could not get enough, but now its available 24/7 (largely free !) and these kids have other things to spend their dosh on (mobiles, Wii's, PS2, Club 18-30 etc) ?

Thats why Universal spend ALL their time signing up nuns, priests or singing waiters - because they know thay can't sell records any other way !
