Over breakfast with Richard Griffiths (Modest) I told him I don't see any managers in the industry anymore - they have all become administrators. He said he prefers the word Maximisers. I'm allowed to give honest opinions to friends (after all, he paid me for them at BMG).
Well he certainly doesn't "manage" anyone. He is handed acts on a plate to maximise their potential, after enormous TV exposure. He does a fine job, but none of his stable has started from scratch.

I'll name you two. Pete Wilkinson and his wife Sarah Erasmus. They picked Amy Macdonald from complete obscurity. Signed her to their management company. Secured her a publishing deal with Warner Chappell and a record deal with Universal Music. Established her in Europe as a major record selling and touring artist. That's proper management in my books.
