A bit on the patriotic side but considering Nigeria have a lot
people of Nigerian origin in the UK, this would have reached
the charts were it released in the UK.
Anyway enjoy the untapped treasure of African Hip Hop, it's a
million miles more musical than the American rubbish that's
out there. Though I am fed up of the over autotuned bandwagon
that is in fashion.
Oh man, I worked on an African rap compilation a few years back - everything from underground groups in Libya to South Africa (including Die Antwoord's first outing).
Here's one of my favourite in terms of pure funkiness: Lord Ekomy N'dong from Gabon singing "Nous" ("us"). He plays the kora harp that provides the motor for the track.
