Likewise Record of the Day; and the Velvet Rope.
I suspect it's because whilst pretending people are in the music business for love of music, in reality most are just in it for money, don't care about music and now, with virtually no money in it anymore, they have stopped pretending and left.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. There's no greater fun than when you feel the need to say to someone 'You've GOT to hear this!'

JK should write a music equivalent of Leavis's 'The Common Pursuit'. A call to ears is required.
