Sad to hear that former Japan bass player has terminal cancer. He was one of the most influential bass players of his generation, and also played various other instruments including the Saxophone and Keyboards.
He achieved great success with japan, who spent more weeks in the album charts in 1982 than any other act, and were voted 2nd in the Smash Hits Best Group category in the same year. He also had a hit with Midge Ure called "After a Fashion", and often played with him, including the Mandala 70th Birthday concert.
Japan always went more for artistic value of the music rather than commercial value, and thus they have spurned any offers to re-unite for the many 80's revival tours. I wish Mick and his family all the best.
