TOPIC: Apple to start selling Beatles

Apple to start selling Beatles 14 Years, 7 Months ago
So, according to the press today, at 3 pm Apple are to start selling the Beatles on ITunes. Is this a big story? I can't see a huge demand for buying digital versions of songs people could already buy digitally - on CD - already. Yes, there will be people who will buy for convieience sake, but am I missing something?

yes you are missing something. Punters will compile their favourite tracks onto their ipods, irrespective of whether they already have the albums. Plus new listeners will start here at a very inexpensive entry point.
I am currently listening to Magical Mystery Tour all of which sounds quite wonderful even on PC Speakers.

The proof will be revieled tomorrow, or on Sunday, when we'll see if the Beatles tracks are taking up the Top 10 or not. I suspect they won't be.

There was so much hype a few months ago, and then nothing. Weird seeing as Apple are normally so well-orchestrated.

They're charging far more for most albums than it costs to buy the CD complete with booklets. The White album is a mad price.

I didn't know 'Here Comes the Sun' was so popular. Lovely song, but a bit surprising. 'Get Back,' among others, is under-performing.
