Susan Boyle shows that the whole "cool" music industry has been barking up the wrong musical trees for the last 20 years.
What punters want are good songs with good production and passion.
Susan Boyle is now the only artist apart from the Beatles with TWO NUMBER ONE ALBUMS in one year in both the USA and UK. An amazing achievement by a middle aged church singer.
Congratulations Susan Boyle for showing that real passion for your music counts more than any amount of "cool packaging and fake hype".

Meanwhile the album sinks from 1-6 in the midweeks and is dropping out of sight sales-wise.
I suspect the novelty is wearing off.
Let's be blunt - she's merely an average singer doing good songs.

Further evidence of a collective national lobotomy - a album full of christmas songs a best seller in early November.
BR - this isn't a triumph of "passion" it's a triumph of marketing.
Re:Susan Boyle does it again ! 14 Years, 7 Months ago
I have not seen one TV advert for this album ? or any other - so how can it be a triumph for marketing ?
It is bound to go down this week with Take That coming out - and with it still being 6 weeks before Christmas - but it will climb the charts again as Christmas gets nearer.
You cant argue with the FACTS that she has broken every chart record yet again with this album.
Even if she never has a Number One album again it does not matter - she has done things that only the Beatles have done - she has eclipsed every other act.
Yes - that is why it is so special. She is just an average singer. But the Beatles could hardly sing - the Spice Girls could not sing a note hardly - and so there you have it : proof that Pop music is not about the "Best Singers" but about what communicates the best to the human heart.
This is why most of the music industry is out of sync with what music is really about - those who moan about "cool" or "technical skills" have ruined the pop music industry. It is about the connection between the song and the human heart. The passion - the meaning - not the execution.
The Sex Pistols were crap at singing and playing - yet shot to stardom and started a revolution - because they said something. The sniffy music industry said they would never be remembered - they said the same about the Beatles etc. and the Stones.....and here we still are in 2010 - Susan Boyle is the NEW BEATLES ! the new PISTOLS - a one women TWO FINGERED salute to the Music Industry who deride her still and still make fun of her doudy image and her age and her average voice.

Wow. So marketing consists purely of TV adverts? As far as I can see, the only people whom BR doesn't feel the need to question their talent and integrity are Ms Boyle and David Icke. What odd choices.

Andre is not to my taste - seen his gigs on Sky Arts - did not know he has sold a million albums this year. Straus has always been popular of course - so there is nothing new there. Great tunes and good to dance to......
Re:Susan Boyle does it again ! 14 Years, 7 Months ago
Susan only went down to 3 and beat the STRAUSSMASTER as well.
That is superb from Susie Boyle - Take That beat her which was to be expected.
I predict she will stay in the Top 20 at least until the end of the year and possibly the Top 10.
Quite fancy getting her album myself based on what I have heard(dont have the first one )
I love Christmas !!!!
The Top 4 show that the public want OLDER style acts ( Rhianna being a slop for the pre teens ) and Take That and Susie Boye and Andre certainly deliver.
Well spotted JK - Mantovani is a good comparison. Had forgotten about how popular his stuff was in the 70s. Good call.
