TOPIC: Matt Cardle and the future

Matt Cardle and the future 14 Years, 6 Months ago
I think he has a tremendous voice although he looks like a builder or plumber.
One of his performances (I can't remember which song) was stunning; the best vocal I've heard on a talent show.
Solid proof that Simon's concept is good for our industry. Don't knock the X Factor. Knock the rest of our useless industry executives who have failed everyone for ten years.

Couldn't agree more Jonathan.
Matt was excellent throughout and deserved to win, in fact him and Rebecca were the best two throughout.

I would love to know who chose the winners song, as it is a cover version from a band called Biffy Clyro (which is a great song in it's own right) and I can't imagine Simon choosing that for Matt. I suspect Matt may of chosen it.

They played up the painter/decorator angle on the show. In reality he went to private school and the painting and decorating was only one of the various jobs he's had.

I think this year in Matt and Rebecca The X Factor have uncovered two true talents. Credit must go to Simon and the rest of the production in avoiding the temptation of trying to fit them into a something too safe. It's Saturday night TV so its not easy satisfying the masses while doing something slightly different, this year I think they did it.

In my opinion Rebecca can have a great career ahead of her but she needs to continue to be handled correctly. Her future is in blues/soul/jazz/gospel song interpretations. A lot of the fans of this genre are "musical snobs" but if Rebecca is accepted then she can have the sort of sales numbers being done by Susan Boyle.

I thought One Direction were adequate but the nature of the boy band genre means they will need someone good pulling the strings. Simon won't have enough time to do this now the show is over.

Cher Lloyd has potential but she's such a chav she's odd on to blow any opportunity she's given.

I thought by far his best song was 'Nights in White Satin'

Completely agree, Matt is a great talent and he will do well, as will runner-up Rebecca
who has a great voice.

So the press claim Matt stands to make 3 million in a year off the back of X-Factor. With record sales being so low, please tell me JK if this is true or not and if so how.

You're all deaf. The two of them are average and are plagued by major tuning issues. Rebecca in particular is appalling. No ability to hold a note, and that awful affected voice is ridiculous, coupled with an unbearably fast vibrato. The pairing of her with Aguilera was embarassing to watch (and I'm no fan of Christina).

Matt obviously has something going for him, as the voting figures show he was top every week except the first (won by Mary, who became less popular week by week.) I can't help feeling they'll be pushing him in a James Blunt/earnest strummer drection, but time will tell...

Rebecca was my favourite, and I hope she's handled well - though her reputation is as the classy ballad singer, uptempo songs in the past few weeks ("Show Me Love" and the tremendous "Sweet Dreams" in the final) worked really well for her, even if she stands stock-still throughout!

I think it might have been The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face that actually made me sit up and gasp.

This is like discussing whats best - MacDonalds or Burger King?

...whilst thinking that you're going to the Wolseley..or the Ivy.

Don't get me wrong - I'm personally a bit like Kentucky Fried Chicken, rather than a piece of fresh fruit - and I'm still working!

Just see them for what they are...

And as for Louis Walsh comparing One Direction to the Beatles....!!@*! Like the people at MacDonalds telling me its health food!!
