Not just Coldplay (although it is a bit depressing) but the fact that all the great tracks (even Shaky) were from years ago; anything recent was dull.

Sums it up really, doesn't it? We have become a world of specialist tastes and minimal appeal.

This is the most intelligent post I have read in years.
This is THE problem in music today.

Coldplay are a band for middle-aged, middle-class people trying to seem young and trendy when in fact very few young people like them. They were on at the Reading Festival when we were their, however we watched shed seven on the other stage, thats how much i like coldplay.

Loved the Xmas day TOTP even though most of the performers were bad (no 'live' X-Factor No. 1 also weird?!?! Is he really that busy?).

I think Coldplay may be the worst Xmas song of all time - so ruddy dull and pretty epic. E. Doolittle looked really pretty, odd song (and far from her best) but she is truly delightful
