NEW YORK, July 13 (Reuters) - Warner Music Group (WMG.N: Quote, Profile, Research) shares fell more 12 percent to $26 on Thursday in early composite trading in reaction to the news that a European court has annulled the European Union's approval of a 2004 merger between Sony Music and BMG.
The deal throws doubt on merger discussions between the Warner Music and its larger rival EMI Group (EMI.L: Quote, Profile, Research).
Both companies have bid around $4.6 billion for each other in the last few weeks.
