OMG another year in the Eurovision wilderness for the UK. Are we really trying not to win to help the economy. What makes it worse is that its a self-penned song.
Statistics show that the best formula to win the Eurovision is to have either a female solo singer, or a group formed at least partially by womens.
All of the uk's winners in the past have been either female singers, female led groups, or groups with at least 50% women.
Boy bands are a no-no.
I'm waiting to hear the song before making my mind up; if it's great I'll be delighted. But I agree; the last time we won I was in charge and we only found the winning song Love Shine A Light because the contest was open to everyone. It's not easy to find a hit. Even Lloyd Webber and Pete Waterman couldn't come up with one. With best intentions, however much I might write, neither could I - to order. I thought we had a runaway winner (our best entry ever) when we constructed Just A Little Bit for Gina G; it came 8th though it went to No1.
Eurovision is a hard task and I'm proud to have achieved the crown for the UK (thanks to Kimberley Rew, Katrina, Alex and the team).
Perhaps one day I might get the chance to do it again.

If it is, it will be disqualified!
I shall also be holding fire on judgment until I hear the song. It must surely be better than Pete Waterman's hopelessly dated piece of uselessness from last year's contest. I'm convinced he dug that one out of landfill after discarding it in 1982.
