One of the true greats - John Williams before John Williams - a hero of my youth for the plucked strings in Adam Faith's hits; John Barry was a mere 77.
Watching Virginia McKenna on BBC Brekkie (we're related) I remember my mother attending the sad and early funeral of her husband Bill Travers - wasn't Born Free a wonderful film and theme?
I wonder if anyone has still pictures of me JK on the original Juke Box Jury panel? In case you're wondering why this is on this thread - Hit and Miss, the marvellous (hit) theme, was a John Barry Seven smash.
Not particularly musical myself but I could always tell if John Barry had scored a film - he went through stages of favouring different kinds of instruments in various films and his music was unmistakeable and never unlikeable. Apparently he was suffering early stages of altziemers and couldn't compose anymore.....
