Trying to get a song to Robbie 14 Years, 3 Months ago
Have just finished producing a new co-write 'Stay' and want to get this to Robbie Williams. Was written with him in mind.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Sadly Al it's true and reflects the entire music industry; the Record of the Day board has very few posts - ditto The Velvet Rope.

As enthusiasm for music has died, fewer and fewer bother to visit or post on boards.

Ye the music business has changed. It seems all TV/download driven. It might not be ideal but everything evolves and we must change with it. I'll get this song placed one way or another as i believe in its potential and besides, there are still acts out there who don't write. I think I've got the 1% talent. I just need to work on the 99% luck

Anyone who can get a song to Robbie is trying...to get a song to Robbie....I think there is a queue....

Maybe you should try another route...like someone who will be the 'next Robbie' - or better still, the next....?

In the first instance why not try his Management Company(Tim Clark) www.iemusic.co.uk/

Well, the first thing to say is that it isn't a bad song. Too long at 5.14, but you can sort that out.
From your site , it appears you have plenty of material but no publishing deal.
So make appointments to see the A&R reps at major publishing companies. Alan Pell and Ben Bodie at BMG/Chrysalis,Mike Sault at Warner Chappell,Kenny McGoff at Sony/ATV. EMI for what it is worth have a "no-name" policy when it comes to A&R bods, but you could try Guy Moot the CEO.
good luck Al

Its more like the 99% relentless hard work Al. I'm a producer/writer and I can tell you at least half the battle is who you know (Face time in person). I spend half my time in studio and half in peoples faces traveling around the world. I just spent a week in LA for the Grammys, Streisand Gala, Producers wing Gala and all surrounding activities then back to London for the MPG Awards and that is not cheap, but being seen is a must. It's serious business in fact. Fact is your material is good and if you were doing what I just described you would already know who to call for Robbie.

If you are going to spend all your time in studio then you had better have a manager that does what I've described.

A hit song will sell itself. If you've got to sell me then its not a hit song. Its got to be so good that I hear about it from someone else. If your going to call Tim Clark you're better off getting it to someone that he already knows and has worked with that thinks it will work to get it to him. He hears about it in that manner and his perception will be completely different than if you call him.

But honestly like someone else said..........find the NEXT Robbie.

It was me...in fact, I said - find the next...?

- which means find someone new who is not on the tailend of their career (don't take that wrong - a modicum of Robbie's success and...dare i say it - talent...& I'd be happy! - on second thoughts, I'm happy anyway!)

& don't say 'I've got a song for Cheryl Cole/Alexandra Burke/Leona etc' - everyone has!

Don't do the obvious, thinking no-one else has thought of it - thats what I did! & look where it got me - at least I can manage Spurs in my spare time...

but then, what do i know...which is what Barbara Streisand was saying to me the other day...etc

Harry, could I get a tryout if the producer thing doesn't work out? I'm a marginally fast midfielder with a strong left foot..............and I'm almost as handsome as Becks!

No problem GG - as long as you set your stall out early doors, realise its a game of 2 halves, run your socks off, and at the end of the day, goals change games...and make sure you film yourself in compromising situations with lots of impressionable teenage muff.... preferably a pop singer...or a model...or 2!

see you at training..
